Google Pixel 10 Pro, coming from a dying Pixel 7
ElectronicsGoogle Pixel 10 Pro, coming from a dying Pixel 7$999.00

My Pixel 7 hits 15% battery by 4pm and the modem drops calls in my own kitchen. The 10 Pro fixes both plus the camera I use daily for my plant shop's social posts. $999 is real money for a phone I did not plan to replace this year, but the shop posts are becoming my main marketing channel. Trade-in would be maybe $120.

戴森 Airwrap i.d. 多功能造型器
Grooming戴森 Airwrap i.d.

DJI Mini 5 Pro for hiking photos
CamerasDJI Mini 5 Pro for hiking photos$959.00

I hike twice a month and my best shots always come from a friend who brings a drone. The Mini 5 Pro is sub-249g so it needs no registration in most places I hike, has a 1-inch sensor now, and 40+ minutes of flight time. It is $759 with the standard battery, $959 in the package I would actually want. This is pure hobby money, so I want a sanity check from people who own one: does it leave the bag after the first month?

What is BuyPass?

BuyPass is a global purchase-approval community that requires no account and no sign-up. Before you check out, you submit the product, the price and your reasons to the site, and people from around the world weigh in with a simple two-choice verdict — approve or reject. An AI summary then organizes everyone’s written advice into a short, source-linked brief. There are no sponsored posts, no affiliate links and no “must-buy” lists. BuyPass answers one concrete question: should this money be spent, now, by you?

Unlike review sites and shopping-recommendation feeds, every page on BuyPass starts with a real purchase hesitation. Requesters describe their use case, how often they will use the item, what they already own and where their budget stands. Voters cannot just tap a button — they must pick at least one reason tag and are invited to leave written advice. The result is not a product rating or a star score; it is a specific decision about one request, one budget and one moment in time.

How does a purchase approval work?

  1. Submit a request: product name, price and currency (14 supported), category, and your reason — plus a product screenshot or a product link (at least one).
  2. AI safety review: every submission is reviewed automatically before publication; illegal or rule-breaking content is never published. Requests that pass appear in the approval hall immediately.
  3. The world votes: other users choose approve or reject, select at least one reason tag (such as “genuine need”, “already covered” or “low use”), and may add advice of up to 300 characters.
  4. Live result: public requests default to a quorum of 10 valid identities (3 for friends-only requests). Once quorum is met, the majority decides “purchase approved” or “purchase not allowed”. There is no deadline — the result updates as votes change.
  5. AI approval brief: the AI summarizes published advice into reasons to approve, reasons to reject, suggested next steps and missing information, each with citations you can click to verify against the original advice.

Who is BuyPass for?

  • Undecided shoppers: anyone who adds to cart, removes it, and opens twelve comparison tabs before giving up.
  • Big-ticket decisions: a second opinion that has nothing to do with your wallet, before a new laptop, camera or sofa.
  • Impulse spenders: turning “I want it” into a written application is, by itself, a rational pause.
  • Families and friends: start a friends-only vote as a buffer for money conversations — without lecturing each other.
  • Willing jurors: pick a category you know well and spend one minute giving a reason and a piece of advice.

Four principles behind BuyPass

No sign-up

Your browser is your identity. An anonymous identity is created on your first visit; back up a private binding ID to restore your requests, votes and bookmarks on a new device.

Majority rules

Public requests default to a quorum of 10 valid identities; friends-only requests need 3. With insufficient or tied votes, the result stays “not approved yet”. Each linked identity counts once and nobody can vote on their own request.

No deadline

There is no countdown and no “decide within 24 hours”. The result is always a current snapshot; an approval receipt proves the result at one moment, not a permanent permission.

AI explains, people decide

The AI performs content safety review (violating content is never published) and organizes published advice into a brief. It holds no vote and cannot override the valid majority.

Ten categories of everyday spending

From frequent small purchases to large one-offs, BuyPass organizes public requests into ten top-level categories with finer subcategories. Each category weighs different things: headphones have to answer “what about the gear you already own?”, cameras are judged on use case and frequency, furniture on space and moving risk, collectibles on joy versus speculation.

Why stranger approval leads to calmer spending

Outsiders see clearly. Approvers have no stake in your wallet, so your own persuading does not sway them — only whether the reason holds up. Reason tags turn a vague “I just want it” into concrete, discussable questions: is it already covered? will it sit unused? can the old one be repaired? does it break the budget?

We are equally candid about the limits: a browser identity is not a verified person, one user on several devices can cast several votes (though each linked identity counts once), and an approval is community advice — it cannot manage your finances or block any purchase you make elsewhere. The real value starts the moment you submit: the impulse becomes a reason that has to stand on its own.

Frequently asked questions about BuyPass

Do I need an account to use BuyPass?

No. An anonymous identity is created automatically in your browser on your first visit. Browsing, searching and voting never require an email address or phone number. Back up a private binding ID only if you want to keep your history across devices.

How is the approval result calculated?

Each linked identity counts one vote per request version. Public requests default to a quorum of 10 valid identities (3 for friends-only). After quorum, more approve than reject votes means “purchase approved”, otherwise “purchase not allowed”; a tie or insufficient votes means “not approved yet”.

Does the AI decide whether I can buy something?

No. The AI does two things: it safety-reviews requests and written advice (violating content stays unpublished) and it organizes published advice into a brief. Voting and the result are decided entirely by the valid majority; the AI holds no vote and cannot override the outcome.

Will voting expose my location?

Only a coarse network region (country and usually city) is shown, derived automatically from your network connection — similar to “IP location”. No GPS is used and nothing needs to be filled in. You can hide your previously shared locations anytime from the identity page.

Does submitting a purchase request cost anything?

It is free. Creating requests, voting, writing advice and reading AI briefs are all free, and there are no paid vote changes or promoted placements anywhere on the site.

If approved, must I buy? Can I still buy after a rejection?

Both are up to you. A receipt is only a snapshot of community opinion at one moment; after a majority rejection the site shows “purchase not allowed” and issues no receipt, but the website cannot block any transaction you make elsewhere.

Why can I not see some requests in the hall?

Three reasons: friends-only requests are never public, some requests are awaiting AI content review, and others failed review or were withdrawn. Private content never appears in on-site search or in search engines either.

Which languages does the site support?

Simplified Chinese and English, switchable from the top-right corner. Requests are displayed in the language they were submitted in; titles and reasons are kept verbatim.
